How can friends contribute toward a trip?
A travel fund registry lets you describe a trip, divide it into costs such as transport and lodging, and share a link so friends can contribute toward a specific goal. It works best when people already want to celebrate you and understand the plan.

Show what the trip actually costs
An illustrative $1,200 weekend budget could include $450 for transportation, $500 for lodging, and $250 for activities. These are example amounts, not travel quotes or a funded customer story. Get current prices and include a buffer you can explain.
Separate gifts from group-trip payments
If friends are buying their own rooms or tickets, use the travel provider’s booking and payment process. RAL contributions are voluntary support; they do not reserve a room, buy admission, or guarantee a service. RAL is not a travel agency.
Explain the plan if the goal is only partly funded
Say whether you will cover the difference, choose a smaller trip, or postpone. Check cancellation terms with your travel providers before making commitments. If the goal changes materially, update supporters and follow the applicable refund policy.
Share a clear invitation
Try: “For my birthday, I’m saving for [trip]. If you’d like to give something, you can contribute toward the travel fund here: [link]. No obligation—your good travel tips are also welcome.”
Create a travel registry
On RAL, add separate goals for transport, lodging, and experiences, then complete account and Stripe verification before publishing. Supporters can contribute without creating an account. Registry creation and sharing are free; a 4% platform fee plus Stripe processing costs applies to successful contributions. Your own sharing drives the campaign; there is no promise of donors.
